Residents of Nambami in Bungoma County have been left in tears and shock after a primary teacher lost his life as fire razed down his house while taking a nap.
According to the headmaster of Nambami primary school, they have been hit hard by the sad news over the loose of the teacher. He described him as being a committed Kiswahili teacher who did his duties without supervision. He also added that the deceased was newly employed and it’s unfortunate that he has not enjoyed the fruits of his labour.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established but preliminary reports indicate that it might have been caused by a cooking gas. Neighbors alledge that they last saw him in the evening while coming from school with some meat which was cooking when the incident happened.
The body of the deceased was burnt beyond recognition with everything in the house being reduced to ashes. His remains were taken to the morgue awaiting burial preparations.
