“If I have to go to my grave not sitting with any of these guys, I will be happy” – Comedian AY Makun speaks on his failed attempts to reconcile with Basketmouth and Julius Agwu

Nollywood actor and comedian, Ayodeji Makun, aka AY, has said that he is done making efforts towards reconciling with his colleagues, Basketmouth and Julius Agwu, who he has had long standing issues with.

Basketmouth and AY have been engaged in a 17-year-old beef, which AY claimed was over an unpaid N30,00 debt by Basketmouth. On his part, Basketmouth has denied the allegation and had come out to say that he and AY were never friends. Basket also disclosed that contrary to AY’s claim that he was not allowed to attend wedding, he never invited AY.

Julius Agwu on the other hand granted an interview where he accused AY of organizing a comedy show on a date that he choose for himself, which most comedians were aware of. Read here, here and here.

In a fresh interview with comedian, Teju Babyface, AY said he has made efforts to reconcile with the duo but to no avail and that at this point, he will be happy if he goes to his grave without reconciling with them. He said their senior colleagues are aware of his efforts to reconcile with both comedians and have asked him to stop bothering himself if the parties involved are not yielding.

“The bros [senior colleagues in the comedy industry] knew and at some point in time, they had to ask me to slow down. They were like: ‘You’re doing too much. You are putting in too much to make this thing work. Friendship is not by force.

I was believing that ‘No, this can work’. Even in my last stand-up comedy, I had to go on stage and I did another routine ‘My guy. How’s my guy? This is my guy. If you see this guy, tell him he’s my guy.’ And the following morning, every where exploded again. ‘We are not friends. We are not that. We are not this.’

So, for me now, I’m not pushing anything anymore. As I’m here now as AY, if I have to go to my grave without sitting with any of these guys to say ‘hello, ‘hi,’ I will be happy.” he said

EPL: Why Man United signed Jonny Evans – Erik ten Hag opens up

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has explained why the club re-signed Jonny Evans.

Ten Had believes that the veteran defender, who left relegated Leicester City, can have a big impact on Manchester United’s younger players.

The 35-year-old Northern Ireland defender was given a short-term deal at the Theatre of Dreams.

Evans has joined up with the rest of the club in Edinburgh for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Lyon.

All things being equal, he might likely feature off the bench before travelling with the squad to San Diego for the first leg of the club’s tour of the United States.

Ten Hag told MUTV, “Of course, I know [about] him for a long time, I know his place was here, was in Manchester.

“We welcomed him to come and train with us, to work on his fitness, and then I said not all the players are in, the internationals were out still on their break.

“We know he’s a very experienced player but also a very good person, big personality, and I think he has a big authority as well and he can help the young players, especially in such moments. So it benefits all sides.”

EPL: I am hoping he’s right – Arteta reacts to Wenger’s title claim

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reacted to Arsene Wenger’s claim that the Gunners might just clinch the Premier League title next season.

Wenger had recently expressed confidence about Arsenal’s chances of lifting the trophy, telling Eurosport this week: “I believe we will win the championship. It is as simple as that.”

Arsenal were on the brink of winning the Premier League title last season but fell just short of ending their 19-year wait.

They are now trying to fortify their team and have brought in three new additions—Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber—for just over £200 million this summer.

Asked about Wenger’s comments in an interview with ESPN, Arteta laughed and replied: “Hopefully, he is right. He is a very intelligent man with huge experience, so I am hoping that he is right.”

‘How does he move forward with the club?’ – Wayne Rooney urges Harry Maguire to leave Manchester United after being stripped of the captaincy

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has told Harry Maguire that he must leave the club after he was stripped of captaincy.

Erik ten Hag relieved the 30-year-old of his duties as captain of the club this summer after a frustrating season for Maguire.

The defender made just 16 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season, and has now been handed advice from United legend Rooney.

Speaking to The Athletic ahead of the MLS All-Star clash against Arsenal, in which Rooney is the head coach, he said: ‘To have the armband taken off you, how does he move forward with the club?’

‘That shows the manager really doesn’t believe in him. It leaves Harry in a position where he has to think on what he does moving forward.

The former England star continued to discuss how he believes the situation leaves Maguire in an awkward position with Ten Hag.

‘The manager has shown he is not part of the plans,’ he said, before telling Maguire that he must put himself first now.

‘I’m sure Harry will want to go and play — for himself, for his England career — to put himself in the best position to be as successful as he can.
‘The best thing now is probably for him to move.’

Man United have already rejected a loan bid for Maguire this summer, with West Ham United looking to bring the England defender in on a temporary deal
