Transfer: Real reason Depay left Barcelona for Atletico Madrid – Xavi

Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has given a reason forward, Memphis Depay left the Blaugrana for Atletico Madrid.

Depay recently completed a move to Atletico Madrid after the two La Liga clubs agreed on a €3million deal, with €1million in extras.

The Dutchman has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Diego Simeone’s side and made his Los Rojiblancos debut in their 3-0 win at Real Valladolid at the weekend.

However, Xavi said Depay left Barcelona because the former Lyon forward was not comfortable at Camp Nou.

The Spaniard added that Depay asked him personally to sanction an exit from Barcelona.

“Memphis asked to leave after he received Atletico’s proposal,” Xavi said as per reports from Marca.

“He asked me to leave, he was not comfortable, he wanted to be comfortable again.

“We all came out of the situation as winners.

“If we can strengthen ourselves, that would be great. If not, it is not urgent. We will see if we can sign someone, but we must remember Financial Fair Play rules.”

300-level FUTA student commits su!cid3 in Ondo

A 300-level student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, Oluwapelumi Joseph Olona has committed suicide

The student of the Department of Industrial Design hung himself with the aid of buckets in his room in an off-campus lodge in the Aule area of Akure metropolis.

His body was found in the early hours of Saturday, January 21, 2023, when his close friends forced his room door open.

Sources revealed that his friends became apprehensive when he did not pick his phone calls, coupled with the fact that he didn’t open his door after several knocks.

“Upon gaining entry, his body was discovered hanging with the buckets used to aid his legs.” the source said.

While the cause of his action was yet to be ascertained, students within the neighbourhood where he lived said it might not be unconnected with depression and financial constraints, which he battled with.

Popularly referred to as “Black” among his circle, some of his hall mates described the deceased as a jovial student who never entered into arguments or fought with anyone.

The president of the institution’s students’ union, FUTASU, Jesunifemi Asoore, confirmed the incident in a statement.

“I know we are all saddened by his death, and we’re sending our condolences to his family and friends. Death can be difficult for us to understand, especially when it is sudden. Many of us may be confronted with a variety of emotions, which might include shock, sadness and confusion. We want to assure you that we, the Students Union Government, care about you and the feelings that you may be experiencing.” he said.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command,Funmi Odunlami, also confirmed the death in a statement on Saturday January 21.

“His body had been taken to the morgue, and investigation has started to unravel the reasons behind his action, but it was a case of suicide.” the PPRO said.

According to him, the best result the Red Devils would get without the Brazilian at the Emirates on Sunday is a draw.

Midfield linchpin Casemiro was suspended at Crystal Palace in midweek after a reckless tackle on Wilfried Zaha in their 1-1 draw.

Merson told Sky Sports: “He[Casemiro]is massive for them.

“He would’ve looked after Odegaard, Casemiro. I don’t see, I cannot see Man Utd beating Arsenal without Casemiro.

“They might get a draw. I don’t see that without Casemiro, he’s that highly rated by me. I don’t give Man United much of a chance tomorrow.”

‘Avengers’ star Jeremy Renner says he broke 30 bones in snowplow accident

“Avengers” movie star, Jeremy Renner says he broke more than 30 bones in the New Year’s Day snowplow accident that sent him to the hospital for more than two weeks.

Renner known for his role as superhero archer, Hawkeye in the Marvel movie and TV “Universe” was injured by a snowplow while clearing a driveway near his Nevada home, leaving him with “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries,” his publicist revealed.

Renner was “completely crushed under a large snowcat (vehicle)” and that he had “extreme (difficulty) breathing.” It goes on to read that, “the right side of his chest is collapsed – upper torso is crushed.”

Renner’s snowcat, an engine-powered machine used to clear snow, started to roll away while Renner was off the driver’s seat, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam previously said.

He underwent two surgeries and was treated in the intensive care unit.

He posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday, January 21 with a caption that read;

“Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love ?? I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens . Love and blessings to you all.”

Renner recently turned 52 in the hospital.

EPL: Graham Potter gives verdict on Mudryk’s first game for Chelsea

Graham Potter has given his verdict on Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance in his debut for Chelsea against Liverpool on Saturday.

Chelsea brought in Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of around £89 million this January.

The Ukraine international started the game from the bench in the 55th minute.

The winger brought the game to life with a lot of energy, fine runs, good passes and splendid decision-making and was unlucky not to have found the net in his debut.

Asked about the 22-year-old’s performance against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, the English manager said, “He’s not played football for a while, he’s been on a mid-season break.

“We had to manage his minutes, but you can see his quality.”

Buzz Aldrin celebrated his 93rd birthday by marrying the love of his life.

The 93-year-old American former astronaut wed 63-year-old Anca Faur in a romantic ceremony, surrounded by a small group of loved ones.

Announcing their wedding news, former engineer and fighter pilot shared two snaps from their special day. One captured the bride and groom inside their venue, with Aldrin wearing a smart suit, decorated with a medal and an Air Force badge.

Aldrin wrote on Twitter to his 1.5million followers: “On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot.

“We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers”.

Congratulatory messages poured in following their announcement.

“First to the moon and now to a honey moon :). Congrats colonel!”, one read.

Another added: “WOW! Congratulations Colonel Aldrin! Life begins at 93! All the best.”

Aldrin has been married and divorced three times.

Aldrin became the second-ever man to walk on the moon back in 1969.

He joined Neil Armstong and Michael Collins for the Apollo 11 mission.

Arsenal vs Man Utd: My first family in England – Alexis Sanchez sends message to Gunners

Former Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez has said that the Gunners will always be in his heart ahead of their Premier League tie with Manchester United on Sunday.

Sanchez wished Arsenal all the best, adding that the Premier League leaders were his first family in England.

Arsenal will host Manchester United in a Premier League tie at Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

Ahead of the clash, Arsenal have been replaying some of their best goals scored against Man United in recent years on their social media channels.

One of the goals was Sanchez’s terrific strike in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over the Red Devils at the Emirates Stadium back in 2015.

And the post did not escape Sanchez’s attention as the former Barcelona attacker, who left the North London club to join Man United in 2018, was moved by Arsenal’s decision to highlight his goal.

“You remembered me. I will never forget you too.

“You will always be in my heart. You were my first family in England.

“And everyone took good care of me, especially the fans. All the best Gunners,” the 34-year-old wrote in response to Arsenal’s post on Instagram.

EPL: It’s frustrating – Spezia coach speaks on Kiwior’s £17.5m move to Arsenal

Spezia head coach, Luca Gotti has insisted that he’s ‘frustrated’ by defender Jakub Kiwior’s imminent move to Arsenal.

Gotti also said that Kiwior’s move to Arsenal would be the biggest sale in Spezia’s history.

Arsenal are believed to have moved quickly to get an agreement in place for Kiwior after completing the signing of Leandro Trossard.

It’s understood that the Gunners have agreed a £17.5million fee with Spezia for Kiwior, who will sign a contract with the Premier League leaders, which runs until 2028.

Kiwior, 22, travelled to London on Saturday to finalise his move to Arsenal.

Speaking on the development, Gotti admitted that he is not happy at seeing Kiwior leave, having spent less than 18 months at Spezia.

“I am very happy for Kiwior and this opportunity he created for himself,” Gotti said at his pre-match press conference ahead of his team’s Serie A clash with AS Roma on Sunday.

“It’s also the biggest sale in Spezia’s history and I imagine the club is happy with that too.

“However, I cannot be happy with it. There are coaches who constantly complain and ask for reinforcements, that is not me, but I am often in a situation where my clubs sell at a big profit.

“That doesn’t mean the players who arrive to replace them are worse, they’re merely less ready to deliver.

“It’s frustrating for a coach, as when you work to build them up, you then don’t get to enjoy the fruits of your labour, as they’re sold and you press the reset button.”

#EPL: Zubimendi takes decision on joining Arsenal

Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi has turned down a move to Arsenal despite the Premier League leaders being ready to trigger his €60 million (£52.6million) release clause.

According to Cadena SER, Arsenal have indicated to Real Sociedad that they are prepared to activate Zubimendi’s £52.6m release clause this January transfer window.

However, the report claims that Zubimendi has rejected a switch to the North London club as he wants to finish the current season with Real Sociedad.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking to reinforce his midfield options this month.

Arsenal have already secured a £27m deal with Brighton for Leandro Trossard this week.

However, the Emirates club are looking to bolster Arteta’s squad even further before the end of the winter transfer window and an approach for Zubimendi has been made.

Zubimendi signed a new contract with Real Sociedad last October.

The 23-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season, will remain at the La Liga club until 2027.

Kanye West’s new wife Bianca Censori leaves little to the imagination in revealing photos taken before they secretly married

New revealing photos of Bianca Censori, have surfaced on the internet.

Censori, the architectural designer at Kanye West’s Yeezy company, who secretly married the rapper, 45, at a resort two weeks ago, could be seen posing completely naked in pne photo, while another showed her smoking a cigarette.

In another photo, she could be seen lounging on the beach in a tiny bikini, and partying in the pool with friends.

The revealing photos came from a now deleted Instagram account and are a far cry from Censori’s newly launched social media pages – which are set to private and include a link to the official Yeezy website.

According to the DailyMail, the photos were taken over the last three years, both in the US and her native Australia.
