If there is any female Nigerian singer that has shown that consistency and hard work indeed pays, that must be Yemi Eberechi Alade.
Ever since she hit the limelight in 2009, after winning the maiden edition of Peak Talent Show, the energetic singer has never looked back.
As soon as she released her debut hit song “Johnny” currently holds the YouTube record for the most watched African Female music video of all time”, she never looked back.
Yemi realized it required more than hard work and talent to shine like a million star in the music industry hence her consistency.
Yemi has had collaborations with the defunct P-Square, Sarkodie, Sauti Sol, Flavour, DJ Arafat, Selebobo to mention a few and GospelOnDeBeatz, DJ Coublon, Selebobo, Philkeyz, BeatsByEmzo, Masterkraft, Rotimi Keys and Mr. Chidoo are some of the finest producers she has worked with.
She capitalizes on the lapses in the industry, continent-wide and the acceptance of Nigeria artistes and songs in the continent, so she exploited this in her favor even when she not getting her due recognition in the local scene, she amassed cult-like followership in Africa scene which paid off.
Today, Yemi is a force to reckon with both local and international scene. Alade was featured on “Don’t Jealous Me”, a track from Beyoncé‘s soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift. She appeared on the track alongside Mr Eazi and Tekno.
Rolling Stone magazine revealed that Alade also recorded a verse for an earlier version of “My Power” in June.
She has put in so much to also get a Grammy recognition of her works and even her latest Shekere with highly revered Angelique Kidjo is a testament.
No wonder she is Mama Africa.
