The head coach of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, praised Odion Ighalo by saying that the club really appreciates him.
Solksjaer was reacting to Ighalo’s predatory instincts after the borrowed striker went into the net against Norwich City in Saturday’s FA Cup.
Ighalo continued his goalscoring form in cup competitions from the opening match when Manchester United beat Norwich 2-1 in Saturday’s quarter-final.
Ighalo’s goal was his first shot in the game, earning him praise from his manager.
“It’s great to have the opportunity to rotate,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport on Sunday. “Anthony Martial came and played brilliantly, but Odion gives me the chance to rotate.
“He’s a proven scorer and he’s done his bit for both goals,” the Norwegian coach continued.
“It’s great to have him in the dressing room too.
“Odion knows how much we appreciate him in and around the dressing room; he’s a goalscorer, he’s a poacher, he’s strong, we can get the ball into him, he showed it the second time and Paul [Pogba] found him.
“It was very important (to keep him at the club), it was important for me and we worked hard for it,” Solskjaer concluded.
