Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has told Belgium he wants to become their next national team head coach.
Henry was an assistant to Roberto Martinez, who has since left the role following elimination at the 2022 World Cup.
With the role still vacant, Henry wants to step up into the position and is willing to earn less than Martinez.
Although he has not officially applied for the role, he has informally declared his interest, according to HLN.
Henry earned around £88,500 during his first stint as an assistant coach.
This compares to Martinez – who was also the technical director – who earned around £2.65m-a-year, including bonuses.
Romelu Lukaku and Toby Alderweireld have already publicly endorsed Henry for the job. https://dailypost.ng/2023/01/02/lukaku-names-manager-to-succeed-roberto-martinez-as-belgiums-new-coach/
