Spain has blocked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s return to Barcelona this January transfer window.
The Catalan giants will not be available to re-sign the Gabon international from Chelsea this month due to Spanish league registration rules.
The striker joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal in January of 2021 and after just six months at Camp Nou, he returned to London to join Chelsea in a £12 million deal.
He has so far struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring just three goals in 15 appearances so far.
The 33-year-old is now understood to be open to exit the west London side this month and reports in Spain claimed Barcelona would love to have him back.
But the Catalan side will need to wait until the end of the season as Spanish rules prevent players from being registered twice by the same club in a single campaign.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, Barcelona boss, Xavi said he was happy with his current squad when asked about the prospect of re-signing Aubameyang.
