Manchester United legend Wes Brown has made revelations about how his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo became Manchester United’s player.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, the 43-year-old revealed why legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson decided to sign the then teenage Portuguese for Manchester United.
Wes Brown, a former England international, made 232 appearances for Manchester United after making his debut for the club in 1996.
He said that Ronaldo was spotted during the Red Devils’ friendly match with Sporting Lisbon when the teenage forward turned the Manchester United defenders inside out and propelled his side to a 3-1 win.
After the game reports emerged that Manchester United players were so mesmerized by his talents that they urged Sir Ferguson to snap him up immediately.
“The story is true! Cristiano Ronaldo gave Gary Neville a hard time during the game, and the rest of the players obviously took notice of his talents,” Wes Brown said.
“Obviously, it’s a huge jump for someone so young to join a Premier League club from Portugal, but Sir Alex Ferguson was incredible in terms of his talent spotting, so he decided to snap him up.”
