Former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has told Erik ten Hag to drop Antony from the Manchester United starting XI.
He said that the Dutch coach should rather start Alejandro Garnacho against Arsenal in Sunday’s heavyweight showdown.
The Red Devils were ultimately forced to settle for a draw after Michel Olise’s injury-time free-kick cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ first-half strike.
Antony, signed for £85 million from Ajax last summer was involved in a row with his teammate Bruno Fernandes for slowing down a move in the first half.
Argentinian young star Garnacho came on in the second half with 20 minutes remaining, replacing the Brazilian.
Agbonlahor noted that Antony is displaying many of the same failings that hampered Arsenal’s record signing Nicolas Pepe.
He told talkSPORT: “Watching Antony last night, he doesn’t do enough for me. He wasn’t happy when he got dragged. He’s giving me Pepe, who used to be at Arsenal vibes.
“He does tricks, doesn’t really beat a player. They need Garnacho to start against Arsenal.”
