Barcelona captain, Sergio Busquets will miss his side’s UEFA Europa League last 16 play-off first leg away against Manchester United later this month due to injury.
Busquets was substituted in the opening minutes of Barcelona’s La Liga 3-0 victory over Sevilla at the weekend as Xavi’s side moved eight points clear at the top of the table ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.
However, the win over Sevilla came at a major cost for the Blaugrana, with their captain set to potentially miss the remainder of February.
Reports from Cadena SER claim the veteran midfielder will miss between two and three weeks, with Barca heading to Old Trafford on February 16.
Busquets will miss two league matches, either side of travelling to Manchester, with his participation in the second leg on February 23 under major risk.
In his absence, Xavi is likely to feature Frenkie de Jong as a lone midfield pivot until Busquets returns to the squad.
