The 2023 edition of the Federation Cup will kick-off in May, according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The NFF made this known in a communique released at the end of its board meeting on Monday night in Abuja.
The competition will start a week before the end of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The winner of the competition, as well as the third-placed team in the NPFL will represent Nigeria in the 2024 edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.
It would be recalled that the 2022 edition of the Federation Cup was inconclusive and no winner was announced by the NFF.
Kwara United instead took up a slot and participated in the CAF Confederation Cup.
