Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, on Monday, returned to the club’s Carrington training ground ahead of their Europa League play-off second-leg tie with Barcelona at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand made his return to the training base where he used to regularly train largely under former legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, during his spell at Man United from 2002 to 2014.

The former defender, who won the Champions League and six Premier League titles with Man United, was at Carrington as a BT Sport pundit to interview midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of the Barcelona clash.

Recall that Man United had drawn 2-2 with Barcelona in the Europa League play-off first leg tie last week at Camp Nou.

Ferdinand also had a look around the training ground again and insists he has felt a huge positive swing at Man United.

“The vibes at Carrington and Old Trafford have changed dramatically,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube show FIVE.

“It has become more positive, the ambience in the place. The cafeteria has even changed. It is like everything has changed.

“Looks different, feels different, food’s different. The feeling when you walk in, I have had very negative vibes [in the past] when I have walked through the corridors of the training ground.

“They are more upbeat, happy to be at work every day. And that’s all been generated and created by Erik ten Hag and his management team and some people behind the scenes because there is not one person who can change the whole culture of a football club – it is a collective approach,” he said.
