Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has told Arsenal that his team defeated them “without being who we are”.

The Premier League champions beat the Gunners 3-1 at the Emirates last week.

That result saw City temporarily leapfrog at the top of the table.

However, the title race took a fresh twist on Saturday as the Gunners won 4-2 at Aston Villa, while City drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.

City are away to RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday. But during his pre-match press conference, Guardiola discussed the recent win over Arsenal.

“The team is there, I have the feeling. We won in London against Arsenal.

“Maybe we weren’t who we are but we competed really, really well. Without that it’s impossible to achieve that result.

“The way we played that game we had something we normally had in the past like resilience,” Guardiola said.
