The Comptroller of the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ahmad Bagari, has said that 700 permanent voter cards were retrieved from foreigners in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Nura Ibrahim. He stated that the recovery exercise was part of NIS’s efforts to ensure that no foreigner votes during the Saturday general election.
Items including PVCs and National Identity cards, which were recovered from the 700 foreigners, had been confiscated and handed over to the national headquarters of NIS in Abuja.
While calling on the people of the state to follow guidelines for a successful free, fair, and credible election in the state, the statement stated further that the borders in the state had been closed.
