Former Premier League star, Jamie Redknapp has named Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard as the best midfielder in the English top flight league at the moment.
According to him, the former Real Madrid man has now usurped Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne as the number one midfielder in the Premier League.
Odegaard scored one of Arsenal’s three goals as they beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
The victory ensured that the Gunners reclaimed their five-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Premier League table.
Brazil duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli and Odegaard were the scorers, while former Brighton star Leandro Trossard provided a hat-trick of assists.
The 24-year-old Norway international has now scored 10 goals and provided six assists this season in the league.
For this reason, Redknapp, who played his football for Tottenham, feels the 24-year-old has taken over the mantle of being the best midfielder in the Premier League from De Bruyne.
“Right now he’s number one. There’s nobody [better],” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“Normally we would say Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfield player, not just in the Premier League but in the world. But something isn’t quite right. He isn’t playing as many games as he’d like.”
