Armed bandits have attacked travellers and residents on the Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi road in Zamfara State.
In the photos shared by Eons Intelligence on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, their vehicles were ridden with gun bullets from the attack.
Meanwhile, a Facebook user, Dr. Tijjani Salihu Shinkafi, has cried out over the incessant attack and abduction of innocent citizens on the notorious road.
“It is sad to report to the readers how the armed bandits have resorted to killing and abduction of innocent people on the road to Shinkafi and some villages of Shinkafi LGA just after the election,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, March 13.“It was reported that they attacked a village called Birnin Yero many times for the last one week killing at least 2 people and abducting unspecified number of people including 2 powerful APC officials (women) of the village. Birnin Yero is one of the 10 wards of Shinkafi emirate, a local government in Zamfara north. It is situated on the highway of Kaura Namoda to Shinkafi (between moriki and Shinkafi).“Similarly, the attacks were reported on daily basis on passenger plying Kaura Namoda road to Shinkafi. So far as reported, they have killed 2 persons while they abducted several others. The two hotspots they frequently attack people are between Kaura Namoda to Moriki and at popular Kwanar Jallop between Birnin Yero and Shinkafi.“Shinkafi people have now been entrapped. The road that goes to Sokoto that passes through either Isa or Sabon Birni LGAs is closed long time ago. Traveling to sokoto through that road is tantamount to taking yourself to the grave early. You may recall the story of the two young friends (Ahmad and Ahmad) both from Shinkafi who were abducted and later killed by the armed bandits December last year.“After killing them, they deposited their dead bodies under a bridge just about 5 kilometers from shinkafi. The shinkafi people resorted to traveling to sokoto via Boko from moriki. But you can’t go to either Gusau or Sokoto without passing through that road. It is now impossible for the people from shinkafi LGA to travel to their state headquarters or sokoto except if they want to risk their lives.“We are pleading with the authorities at all levels to salvage the situation by mounting military check points to secure the road for the people who are using the roads and flush out the criminals from the area for peace to reign in our region,”
