Barcelona legend, Gerard Pique, has insisted that he does not regret putting a hasty end to his trophy-laden career.

Pique recently announced his retirement from football shortly before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup last November.

The former Manchester United defender made his final Barcelona appearance in the 2-0 victory against Almeria in La Liga on November 5.

Pique’s sudden retirement came as a surprise to many, but the Spaniard has no regrets about it.

In an interview with Spanish outlet RAC1, Pique said, “I finished for a number of reasons. I did not feel as important as I had felt at other times and that didn’t make me feel good.

“I won’t go into whether I felt cheated by anyone. I think I earned to choose my end, it happened and I am happy with that.”

He added, “It was the healthiest thing for me, for the people, for the team. I made a considered decision, even if it seems like it was made in the heat of the moment, and I don’t regret it. It was the right decision.”
