Germany national team boss Hansi Flick has hailed retiring Mesut Ozil.
The former Germany International retired from football on Wednesday at the age of 34.
He described him as an ‘outstanding player’ who was one of the best players in the world during his hay days.
The German boss thanked Ozil for his contribution to football in Germany and his role in the nation’s 2014 World Cup win in Brazil and wished him well for the future.
“Mesut Ozil was one of our outstanding national players,” Flick has said.
“In his most successful period he was one of the best footballers in the world,” he told the press ahead of Germany Euro 2024 qualifier.
“I really enjoyed working with him, he had exceptional skills, his technique and game overview were outstanding.”
