Manchester United legend, Andy Cole has told his old club not to make further moves to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
The Red Devils spent the summer of 2022 trying to lure the Netherlands international to Old Trafford but the player refused to move even when a fee was agreed between the two clubs.
And most recently, De Jong played down the idea of joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window and insists he is ‘very happy’ at the Catalan club.
Cole, while speaking with King Casino Bonus, said the Red Devils would be looking desperate if they keep pressing for the player to join the Old Trafford fold.
“If you look at last season’s transfer saga and you have to wonder why Manchester United would want to put themselves in that position again?
“Going in for De Jong again makes them look desperate, this is Manchester United football club we’re talking about here, if you don’t want to play for them, then move on to your next option.
“It’s not like Manchester United is a non-league football club,” he said.
