Villarreal manager, Quique Setien is in awe of Samuel Chukwueze’s quality following the Nigerian’s impressive display against Real Madrid on Sunday night.
Chukwueze dazzled at a packed Santiago Bernabeu by netting two breathtaking goals to help the Yellow Submarine beat the European champions 3-2.
The winger entered the history book as the second Villarreal player to score a brace in a LaLiga game against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, after Diego Forlan in May 2006.
The 23-year-old struggled to get into Villarreal’s first XI early this season under the previous manager, Unai Emery.
The Super Eagles star has, however, blossomed under Setien and was at his devastating best against Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.
Chukwueze was a thorn in the flesh of Real Madrid defenders who struggled against his pace and trickery.
“He is a boy who is a great footballer. He is in a moment of fantastic inspiration. He helps us a lot and he is going to continue on this path,” Setien told the club’s official website.
“He has the desire to improve, is responsive and is a hard worker. We see the reward for his work on days like today when he has scored two great goals.”
Chukwueze has scored six goals in 27 league appearances for Villarreal this season.
