Football pundit, Noel Gallagher, has singled out Jack Grealish, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji for special praise following their performance in Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The five players were impressive as Man City defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
According to Gallagher, Grealish stepped up against Bayern Munich, Stones is the king of North, while the likes of Dias, Akanji and Ake were all unbelievable.
“All of us that watch [Manchester] City, when players turn up, it usually takes a season before the penny drops and at the start of the season Jack [Grealish] stepped up a bit,” Gallagher said on talkSport.
“We love John [Stones],” Gallagher added.
“He is the king of the North. Imagine having that dropped on you by Pep [Guardiola] at this stage of your career that you are going into midfield – he is learning new things.
“But he is such a brilliant, brilliant footballer and he is a great lad. He is unbelievable! Him and [Ruben] Dias, and the back four, is immense now. Akanji is unbelievable, what Pep has done to [Nathan] Ake is honestly psychedelic. No one was queuing up to buy him! He’s now one of our best defenders. He’s an immense player. Unbelievable.”
