British journalist Chris Wheatley has revealed that Arsenal’s attacking midfielder, Emile Smith-Rowe, has grown disappointed with his lack of game time under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium and wants to leave.
The forward wants to join Arsenal’s rivals Aston Villa and reunite with his former manager, Unai Emery.
Smith-Rowe scored 10 goals and made two assists in 33 appearances for the Gunners last season but has failed to make a single start this season.
Although the youngster has been injured a couple of times earlier in the season, he is still unhappy with his non-involvement.
“There’s absolutely truth in Villa’s interest in Smith Rowe. Unai Emery’s a big admirer of Emile Smith Rowe,” he told The Chris Wheatley Show.
“I know he’s disappointed with his lack of first-team opportunities.
“So yeah, Smith Rowe is wanted by Aston Villa. I think it’s a move that he would certainly consider because it’s a chance to rejuvenate his career.”
