Former Paris Saint-Germain player Jerome Rothen has slammed Lionel Messi, saying the Argentina captain only joined the French side because of the money involved.
He further claimed that the seven times Ballon d’Or winner only left Barcelona because the Camp Nou landlords could not afford to pay what he wanted.
The Argentina international left Barcelona for PSG in 2021 after the La Liga side could not offer him a new deal as a result of their financial difficulties.
Rothen told RMC Sports that the 2022 World Cup winner now wants to leave Parc des Princes after making money and not caring at all about the club.
He said: “I have no words. It’s completely out of place. That’s how much he doesn’t give a damn about the world since he arrived.
“He didn’t come for the right reasons, he only came for the financial conditions. In Barcelona, we know very well why he left. They could no longer pay him the way they paid him.”
