Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has named midfielder Ilkay Gundogan as one of the best players he has trained in his illustrious managerial career.
Guardiola made Gundogan his first signing in July 2016, and ever since then, the Germany international has been a key figure in his starting XI.
Gundogan has scored 56 goals and registered 38 assists in 298 appearances across competitions for Man City so far.
Speaking ahead of Man City’s UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg tie with Real Madrid on Tuesday night, Guardiola said, via the Mirror that Gundogan is so intelligent and a top class player.
Guardiola said, “He is so intelligent, Gundo. So clever. So competitive. Under pressure, he handles it without a problem.
“He is one of the best players I ever trained in my career. The whole package. He’s top, top class.”
