Brighton manager, Roberto De Zerbi has said Newcastle United deserve to play in the Champions League next season.
De Zerbi’s men were thrashed 4-1 by the Magpies on Wednesday night.
The hosts took the lead through Deniz Undav’s own goal, before Dan Burn extended their advantage with a header just before the break.
Although Undav pulled one back early in the second half, Newcastle added more goals through Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes.
“We suffered physically against Newcastle and there were many players who didn’t play in the last period, but I don’t need to say anything because we knew it would be difficult.
“Newcastle deserve to qualify for the Champions League,” De Zerbi said after the match.
