Manchester United legend, Roy Keane has hailed Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for selling players like Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo as the Citizens lifted the Premier League trophy on Sunday.
Keane praised Guardiola’s decision to move on these players, insisting that it was a sign of greatness and the Spaniard knows what he is doing.
Man City celebrated winning their fifth title in the last six years on Sunday after beating Chelsea 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola’s side were crowned champions of England following Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
“The recruitment, the way he’s moved players on,” Keane told Sky Sports.
“City’s recruitment has been fantastic, but the way they have moved players on – players coming towards the end of their careers or players who Pep [Guardiola] maybe talked about getting fed up with – he’s moved them on, so he’s kept that hunger.
“The biggest challenge is always within the group and he’s clearly got brilliant players with brilliant characters. We saw him earlier in the season upsetting plenty of players – he upset De Bruyne, Walker, Stones, Cancelo – he got rid of Cancelo – and he moved Jesus on.
“He knows what he is doing, this man, he’s done it consistently and that is a sign of greatness.”
