It was another exciting weekend in the Nigeria Premier Football League with matches across 10 different centres.
DAILY POST presents the major takeaways:
Enyimba failed to score in Ibadan again
The eight-time champions have always found going too tough at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan and Sunday was not an exception.
The People’s Elephant have failed to score in any of their last seven meetings at the ground and failed to end the barren run this time around.
The 0-0 draw was however enough for Finidi George’s side to secure a place in the NPFL Super Six playoffs.
Bendel Insurance equal NPFL’s longest unbeaten run
The Benin Arsenals went the entire regular season unbeaten after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nasarawa United on Sunday.
Monday Odigie’s side equaled Akwa United’s longest unbeaten streak (18) in the process.
Insurance won eight and drew 10 games.
Relegated Wikki Tourists end Lobi Stars’ 18-game unbeaten home streak
WIkki Tourists did the unthinkable; halted Lobi Stars’ 18-match unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Before Sunday’s meeting at the New Jos Stadium, Lobi Stars had recorded 12 wins and six draws.
Wikki Tourists put an end to the unbeaten streak with a 2-0 win. It was however not enough to salvage the Bauchi Elephants season as they were relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Remo Stars equal biggest win record
Remo Stars were in superb form in Ikenne on Sunday as they thrashed Kwara United 4-0 to secure a place in the NPFL Super Six playoffs.
It was the second time they scored four goals in an NPFL game.
Ebube Duru, the free kick specialist
The Rivers United left-back scored a fantastic free-kick in his side’s 1-1 draw against Rangers on Sunday. It was his third of the season- the most by any player in the 2022/23 regular season.
