Chelsea legend Chris Sutton has claimed his former club would have the chance to win the Premier League title next season if Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi takes charge of the Blues instead of Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino has been widely reported to take over from caretaker manager Frank Lampard at the end of the current season.

But Sutton believes appointing De Zerbi will be the better option for Chelsea than Pochettino.

“I know Pochettino’s going in at Chelsea, but if De Zerbi got offered the Chelsea job, we would all say that Chelsea have a chance of winning the Premier League, wouldn’t we?” Sutton said on BBC.

Recall that De Zerbi took over from Graham Potter at Brighton earlier this year as the latter joined Chelsea.

Potter failed to have an impact at Chelsea and was sacked just about seven months into his managerial role with the west London club.
