Barcelona have reportedly identified Royal Antwerp’s Arthur Vermeeren as a possible replacement for departing midfielder Sergio Busquets.

Recall that Busquets had since announced he would leave Barcelona at the end of the season.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Vermeeren is seen as one of the six players who can replace Busquets at Barcelona.

Romero claimed on his Twitch channel that the 18-year-old, who is also a target for Manchester United this summer, is on Barcelona’s transfer wishlist.

“Arthur Vermeeren, an 18-year-old Belgian player currently playing for Royal Antwerp FC in Belgium’s top division, is the name that enters the list of players as possible replacements for Busquets for the sporting direction of Barça.”

Apart from Vermeeren, Romero added that the likes of Ruben Neves, N’Golo Kante, Sofyan Amrabat, Martin Zubimendi and Guido Rodriguez are the other targets for Barcelona.

Vermeeren’s contract with Royal Antwerp will expire in 2026.
