Incoming Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has given the club the green light for his potential first signing, Manuel Ugarte.
Pochettinio, who will be unveiled as Chelsea’s new manager this week, wants to sign Ugarte, who currently plays for Sporting CP.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are understood to have indicated they are willing to pay Ugarte’s £52 million release clause in full and Pochettino is said to have sanctioned the move for the midfielder.
Pochettino’s former club, Paris Saint-Germain, are reported to have tabled a rival offer for Ugarte, but Chelsea are in pole position with the 22-year-old said to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
Ugarte could be the perfect midfielder to partner Enzo Fernandez in Chelsea’s central midfield next season.
