Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has responded to claims that the club’s success this season is due to the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last November.
Manchester United and Ronaldo agreed to sever their contractual ties back in November 2022, after the Portuguese granted a controversial interview to British journalist Piers Morgan.
Manchester United had a seven-match winning run after the World Cup , reaching and ultimately securing the Carabao Cup. They have also qualified for the Champions League for next season.
Asked if Ronaldo’s departure was the catalyst for this newfound drive and consistency, Ten Hag told the Times, “If you’re observing that, it’s up to you. So, what I want to see from my team is a team who are proactive, dynamic, determined.
“I’ve seen many times Manchester United with that attitude, so that’s what I like. It’s not that we are satisfied. There’s still a long way to go but we’re definitely showing this mentality.”
