New Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino wants goalkeeper Andre Onana and is willing to offer Inter Milan cash plus Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy to sign the Cameroonian this summer.
According to Foot Mercato, Pochettino is a big fan of Onana, whose performances have helped Inter Milan reach the UEFA Champions League final where they will face Manchester City on June 10.
Goalkeeper has been a problem area for Chelsea since the departure of Thibaut Courtois back in 2018, with the Blues spending a world-record fee on his replacement Kepa Arrizabalaga.
But the Spain international has proved to be inconsistent and unreliable in the goal post with Mendy signed to replace him just two years later, and initially, this worked wonders.
The Senegalese shot-stopper was pivotal to Chelsea’s Champions League triumph in 2021, and after winning the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, with Senegal national team, was named the Best FIFA Men’s goalkeeper for that season.
However, following his fantastic debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, his form dipped and it has dropped even more over the past season, with injuries also limiting his playing game time.
Mendy has also reportedly turned down multiple offers to extend his contract past 2025 and with all that in mind, the 31-year-old is expected to leave the west London club this summer.
