Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly decided that they will cash in on Kylian Mbappe if they are unable to convince him to extend his current deal at the club.
This is coming after Mbappe informed PSG he would not be extending his contract, a move that will prompt the French Ligue 1 champions to sell him this summer.
The move, as reported by L’Equipe, has infuriated PSG and If that extension is not triggered, they will not allow Mbappe to leave the club for free.
Mbappe signed a new deal with PSG last summer, making a last-minute U-turn having seemingly been set to join Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid.
That contract will expire in the summer of 2024 with the option to extend by a further year.
PSG are eager for the France international to pen fresh terms.
But Mbappe has now put Europe’s elite on red alert, having informed PSG he will not be activating the clause to extend his deal until 2025.
That means Mbappe will be free to hold talks and agree to a pre-contract deal with a club outside of France from January next year and leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.
