Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has named Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as ‘100 per cent’ the right goalkeeper to replace David de Gea at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand said that Onana is a proper footballer and a great shot-stopper.
Man United are keen to sign Onana as De Gea’s contract expired over the weekend.
Speaking about Onana, Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube show: “The manager wants a new goalkeeper. If the club, which it looks like, has said, “David you are done” that is fair enough. I don’t care about that, that is fine, he will have to go and find a new club.
“Bigger and better players, back in the day, have been told to leave Man United, it is fine. I think David will be okay. But there is a way in which you do it.
“Now, if we move onto who is going to replace him: Onana 100 per cent. I went to watch him live in the Champions League semi-final, the confidence this boy has got!
“He is almost like another player. He comes out, plays on the edge of his box, and he wants to be involved in the build-up, he is a proper footballer. And he is a great shot-stopper, he made a couple of great saves in the final.”
