American actor, Kevin Spacey allegedly se3ually assaulted a stranger at his luxury Cotswolds holiday home after drink driving a group of young men there for a ‘party’, a court has heard.
The Oscar-winning actor is said to have invited a group he had just met in a pub back to his rented home, where he had laid out 20-to-30 pre-rolled cannabis joints and told them to ‘help yourselves’.
Despite spending several hours drinking double Jack Daniels and coke, the 63-year-old allegedly drove a group of six back to the drug-laden property where he is accused of groping a 23-year-old man.
The alleged victim said Spacey went for a hug but suddenly grabbed his crotch and kissed him on the neck, telling him: ‘Be cool’.
Shocked, the man pushed him against a wall and fled the property in tears to the ‘panic’ of the Hollywood star, he claimed.
Southwark Crown Court, London, heard that the complainant had only met Spacey a few hours earlier when he appeared at a pub known to be a favourite with celebrities including Kate Moss and Gary Barlow.
The actor asked to join him and his friends, who drank together for around three hours before Spacey allegedly said: ‘If you want to carry on the party I have got drink, wine and beer back at the house and a few spliffs.’
The witness recalled that the star, whom his friends jokingly called ‘K-Dog’, started touching him in the pub: ‘There were a few moments where he had put his hand on your back, (or) pat you on the back, or put his hand on your knee or something.
‘It was not anything that we thought too much about, just sort of moved to the side or moved his hands away.’
Spacey was renting the property on an exclusive private estate while he worked as artistic director of The Old Vic theatre.
When he arrived at the lakeside home the alleged victim said he saw ’20-30′ joints lying around in the living room and kitchen which ‘someone had rolled’ for him.
The alleged victim asked to borrow a jacket so he could smoke outside on the balcony.
He recalled: ‘I opened two or three doors, the last door I opened his little dog shot out, so I turned around, got the dog. I turned round and closed the door behind me.
‘Kevin was five yards away from me. I said, ‘sorry I didn’t mean to let your dog out’.
‘He came towards me in a huggy motion and said ‘don’t worry about it. It’s cool, it’s cool’.
‘Then we did an awkward man-hug, a pat on the back type of thing and it was then that he kissed down my neck twice and grabbed my crotch and said the words, ‘Be cool, be cool’ twice.
‘I put my arm out and I pushed him against a wall and said; ‘Sorry I don’t bat for that team’.
‘He had an immediate panic, went into a room and closed the door behind him.’
The ‘teary’ witness immediately left and called his father at 3am.
‘I rang my father in a bit of a panicky state. He asked me what was wrong, what happened and that’s when I knew that the date was 1 April and he wouldn’t believe me.
‘It was April Fool’s Day, everyone would think it’s just a joke,’ he told police.
The victim said the attack left him unable to watch Spacey’s films, but it became a ‘running joke’ with friends that he had been groped by an Oscar-winner best known for his films, American Beauty, the Usual Suspects, LA Confidential and Baby Driver.
Spacey is accused of carrying out a dozen sex attacks on four younger men between 2001 and 2013.
The defendant denies three counts of indecent assault, seven counts of se3ual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one allegation of causing a person to engage in penetrative se3ual activity without consent.
The trial continues.
