Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, is set to take the captaincy from Harry Maguire this week, even if he chooses to remain at the club, the UK Sun reports.
Maguire only made eight Premier League starts last season, after falling behind the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof.
Ten Hag has already shown Maguire is not in his long-term plans at Old Trafford, and therefore a change of captaincy is set to occur.
Portugal midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, has been named the most “likely” to take the armband off Maguire for the new season.
Fernandes wore it for most of last season as Maguire watched on from the bench.
David De Gea would have been another candidate for the armband but the goalkeeper left the club following the expiration of his contract.
