DC United boss, Wayne Rooney hailed Arsenal’s signing of Declan Rice from West Ham this summer.
Rice became Mikel Arteta’s third signing of the summer after Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
The England midfielder cost the Gunners a record-breaking £105million.
Rooney has now said Rice could be captain of Arteta’s squad already.
“He is a huge signing for Arsenal. He is a fantastic player, with a great mentality and is at the top of his game.
“Brings great character into the dressing room. He could be captain of Arsenal already,” Rooney told a press conference.
