Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has opened up on his fight with Mason Mount while the England international was at Chelsea.
He said that the Red Devils need players with ‘aggression’ like Mount.
The new teammates once clashed playing for rival clubs.
Mount joined United from Chelsea this summer with Fernandes greeting him on social media with a photo of the two in a scuffle.
During a game between Man United and Chelsea in the 2022-23 season, Fernandes had stepped in to defend goalkeeper David de Gea, exchanging words with Mount in their brief bust-up.
The two now line up on the same side.
“We need players with that kind of aggression and passion,” Fernandes told MUTV.
“These are the kind of players I like to play against and, even more, to have in my side, so I’m happy he’s here now.
“Now, instead of me on the side of David, it’s me on the side of Mason defending him from someone else.
“Now he is on my side and I will do everything I can to defend him.”
Fernandes was recently confirmed as Manchester United’s new captain. He took over from Harry Maguire.
This was after Maguire announced that manager Erik ten Hag had stripped him of the Red Devils captaincy.
The England international has however vowed to remain at the club and fight for his place despite the situation.
Fernandes also confirmed that Maguire has wished him well in his new position as captain.
