The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a member of an armed robbery gang that attacked an Okada rider and stole his motorcycle in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, said the suspect, Isyaku Ahmadu Usman, 27, of Bariki village, was arrested on allegations of armed robbery and possession of stolen valuables.
“On 8/7/2023 at about 2030hrs one Abdullahi Adamu Gemu ‘m’ age 40yrs of Bariki village B/ Kudu LGA, reported at B/Kudu Division that on 7/07/2023 at about 2030hrs, while conveying passengers on his motorcycle Bajaj, red in color without registration number, valued at two hundred and thirty thousand naira (230,000.00k) from B/kudu to Bangwalde village, unknown hoodlums attacked and beat him with sticks on his head, as a result, he fell unconscious, the armed men made away with his GSM handset and motorcycle,” the statement read.
“On Friday 29th of July 2023, detectives attached to B/kudu Divisional Police Headquarters arrested one Isyaku Ahmadu Usman ‘m’ age 27yrs of Bariki village in possession of the robbed motorcycle.”
The PPRO said on investigation at the state criminal investigation and intelligence Department (SCID) Dutse, the suspect confessed to the committing of the offence.
