Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted Kevin De Bruyne could be out of action until 2024.
De Bruyne was unavailable for their UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla in midweek, after picking up a hamstring problem against Burnley in the Premier League.
The injury is a recurrence of the problem that cut short his involvement in the Champions League final in June.
The 32-year-old will undergo surgery to correct the issue.
“He will be four or five months out.
“We’re not at our best [because of injuries]. It’s normal, and we adjust a few things, but the spirit is there,” Guardiola told a news conference on Friday.
