Unknown gunmen on Sunday, September 10, killed a woman and abducted a police officer with members of his family in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo, Taraba State.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesman for the Taraba Police Command, SP Usman Abdullahi, said the abducted officer is attached to the Rivers State Command.

“The kidnappers came and scaled through the fence and kidnapped one police officer attached to Rivers State Command by the name Gamaliel. In the process, they kidnapped his wife and daughter. They shot him and a woman in the house. The woman was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre,” Abdullahi said

He added that the command is working to ensure the victims are rescued alive and the perpetrators apprehended.

“The command is working to make sure they are rescued unhurt,” he said
