Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez, has bemoaned mistakes as his team were held to a 2-2 draw against Mallorca in Tuesday’s LaLiga tie.
Xavi said Barcelona failed to beat Mallorca because his players made two mistakes against the hosts, dropping two points as a result of the outcome of the encounter.
Barcelona and Mallorca drew at Iberostar Stadium following goals from Vedat Muriqi, Abdon Prats, Raphinha and Fermin Lopez.
“The problem is they [Mallorca] got in front with a mistake from us,” Xavi said at his post-match press conference.
“Then when we were at our best, equalising before the break, they get a second. They are both mistakes from us which should not happen.
“We created chances, even though we thought it would be harder to do so, but we conceded too much. It is a mistake. We had the game under control, I remember chances for Joao, Ferran, Rafa.”
He added, “We have to improve in defence. Last season we were really solid and focused back there. We were not bad today, but we’ve made two errors that we can’t make. It’s because of that we have dropped two points today.”
The result against Mallorca means Barcelona are on top of the La Liga table with 17 points from seven matches.
The Blaugrana will face Sevilla on Friday in their next La Liga tie.
