Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe, has shared his thoughts on Anthony Gordon’s controversial winner against Arsenal in Saturday’s Premier League tie.
Newcastle defeated Arsenal 1-0 at home in a Premier League fixture St James’ Park.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left absolutely angry at the decision to award Newcastle the goal, describing it as a ‘disgrace and embarrassing’ in a meltdown over VAR.
VAR officials took more than four minutes to make the decision, running checks on three possible offences.
Those included if Newcastle winger Gordon was offside, if the ball had gone out of play during the build-up to Gordon’s goal and if Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was fouled by Joelinton.
Asked for his thoughts on Newcastle’s goal, Howe told Sky Sports after the game: “We are in the dark, we are stood by the side of the pitch seeing VAR on the screen but with no pictures.
“I have not seen anything other than what I saw at the time. It looked a good goal to me.”
