Twenty Seven members of the Rivers state House of Assembly have ditched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers who are said to be loyal to the immediate past governor of the state and current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, announced their defection this morning December 11. The lawmakers cited the division in the PDP as reason for their defection to APC
The defection comes weeks after they attempted to impeach the incumbent governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara, who is currently having a faceoff with Wike who facilitated his emergence as governor.
There are rumors that Wike will in no distant time also announce his defection to APC.
The lawmakers sang the APC allegiance song to President Tinubu ‘’On your mandate we shall stand” as they brandished APC flags.
