Former Chelsea star Chris Sutton has urged Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to recall defender Kieran Tierney from his loan spell at Real Sociedad amid the Gunners’ troubling issues at left-back.
Arsenal suffered a Premier League 2-1 defeat to Fulham last weekend.
Arsenal’s main struggle so far this season is arguably finding the back of the net consistently, but they appear to be struggling at left-back at the moment.
Arteta had to deploy Jakub Kiwior at left-back against Fulham as Oleksandr Zinchenko missed the clash due to a calf injury, while Jurrien Timber remains sidelined because of an ACL injury.
However, Sutton wants Arteta to cut short Tierney’s season-long loan deal at Real Sociedad.
“Kiwior at left-back, he is not a full-back, he is a centre-back. Why not recall Kieran Tierney? Good shout, does he have a recall? Does he have a recall after six months? Why did you let Tierney go in the first place? Maybe he wanted to play football, but it is a good point,” Sutton said (via The Boot Room).
Tierney joined Real Sociedad last summer transfer window on a season-long loan after losing his place in Arteta’s starting XI last season.
