Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel has said that Inter Miami superstar, Lionel Messi did more than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to win the 2023 FIFA’s Best Men award.
Recall that Messi won the FIFA’s Best Men’s award on Monday in London.
The Argentina World Cup winner finished top of the three-man shortlist that also featured Haaland and Paris Saint-German’s Kylian Mbappe.
The 36-year-old did not attend FIFA’s Best awards ceremony last night in favour of staying in America to train with Inter Miami.
Also, neither Haaland nor Mbappe were present at the event.
Speaking after Messi won the award, Obi-Mikel was quoted by Sky Sports News as saying when giving his verdict:
“I think Messi did more than Haaland to win it.”
