Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has explained why he allowed teammate Marcus Rashford to take a penalty during the Red Devils Premier League 2-0 win against Everton on Saturday.
Fernandes said that Rashford was confident of dispatching his spot-kick against the Toffees, so he allowed the England international to take it.
Recall that two penalty goals from Fernandes and Rashford gave Erik ten Hag’s side all three points against Everton.
When asked by TNT Sport (via Metro) about his decision to let Rashford take the second penalty, Fernandes responded:
“We both kick the penalties. I asked Marcus if he wanted to take and he said he was confident.
“He is one of the penalty takers that the manager chooses. I felt I had my one; Rashy could get his goal from the penalty.”
