Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has challenged Ethan Nwaneri to break into the Gunners’ first team.

Arteta challenged the player after he signed his first professional deal at the club.

Arsenal secured the player’s long-term future by finalizing a professional contract, fending off interest from clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United.

His progress has continued as he has featured for Arsenal’s youth teams, scoring a commendable 14 goals in as many appearances.

“I was really happy [for Nwaneri signing a professional contract],” Arteta said in quotes relayed by The Standard.

“A really proud moment to see another academy graduate signing his pro contract.

“He is very close to the first team. The opportunity is there, now he needs to take it.”
