Two Premier League players were arrested last weekend on suspicion of rape and assault, according to the UK Sun.
It is understood that both footballers are 19 years and play for the same club.
The police interviewed one of them briefly at their club’s stadium on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape.
He was then formally arrested after leaving the stadium, spending the night in a police cell, before being quizzed by detectives under caution.
His teammate was also arrested and questioned the next day on suspicion of rape.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape.
“A 19 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape.
“A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape.
“Both men have since been released on police bail.”
