Manchester City are going head-to-head with Arsenal to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in the summer.
Guimaraes has a contract with the Magpies until 2028.
However, prospective bidders can land the Brazil midfielder by activating his £100million release clause before June 24.
The 26-year-old was in fine form for Newcastle, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions.
Both City and Arsenal fought for the signature of Declan Rice last summer, with the England international opting to join the Gunners.
It remains to be seen if Mikel Arteta can beat Pep Guardiola to Guimaraes this time around.
